Paul Newcombe-Jones
IT Support Technician
Hi I'm Paul and I joined Bitopia back in 2006. Initially I started on a 6 week University placement then later that year after my foundation degree I came back full time to take on the IT Support role.
I first gained an interest with computers when was 12. It all started with my computer at home when that stopped working and I had to resolve the problems myself. From then on I took every opportunity to work with computers and learning more as time went on. My work placement at Rainford High was at a local computer repair shop that helped me greatly with the basics and the constant problem solving encouraged me to become an IT Technician.
The work I do day to day varies drastically. Many skills I have learnt I have learnt by doing rather then learning, these are the kind of skills education doesn't teach. Personally, I enjoy watching rugby league regularly. Also I try (try being the key word) to get to the gym 3 times a week and in more recent months I have been playing 5-a-side on a weekly basis. Within the next 2 years I aim to learn how to play the electric guitar that I have had for 4 years and hardly used.
