Alexandra Park Intranet Site Goes Live
Tenants at the newly rebranded Alexandra Business Park in St Helens have been given access to a fantastic new dedicated online information resource in the shape of their own private Intranet Site. The concept was initially suggested to Pilkington (proprietor of the business park) by Steve Smith, MD of Bitopia shortly after Bitopia relocated to the business park on Prescot Road. Over recent months Bitopia has worked closely with Pilkington staff to evolve the Intranet concept into an extensive online resource that promises to provide a really useful central communications tool for the many businesses now located within the former global headquarters of the glass giant Pilkington Group. The site launched in mid December 2007 and some of the larger tenants on site such as Helena Housing and Speedy Hire UK have already expressed their support for the new Intranet site, both being especially interested in utilising the extensive Health and Safety section to form part of their staff induction program. The new Alexandra Park Intranet Site benefits from an elaborate bespoke content management system with fully customisable multi-level, multi-user access to ensure the appropriate people have access to manage the content that they are responsible for. For example the Restaurant section has the ability to store multiple weekly menus and schedule them well in advance, whilst also giving the Restaurant manager the ability to fully customise the entire Restaurant section to suit the business needs. One of the most popular features of the new Intranet Site is likely to be the Message Board, where any tenant who has registered on the site can post their own messages. Alert Messages are shown separately on the Message Board section. An automatically generated alert e-mail is sent to all registered users when any Alert Messages are created. Presently Alerts can only be generated by the Business Park Manager John Bracken. There are a number of other sections on the site that provide useful information resources for tenants and additional features are likely to be added as the site gains popularity.
