PHP, which stands for "PHP: Hypertext Pre-processor" is a widely-used Open Source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML.
PHP provides familiar syntax to C, Perl and Java developers, has fast connections to popular databases, fast native connections to the Open Source MySQL database, runs reliably on Windows, Linux and Mac servers and clients.
PHP web pages run reliably on all the popular browsers. Its associative arrays are very useful for UI and database applications. PHP's object oriented classes are easy to understand, and has been very promiscuous-linking to PDF, SWF, XML, Java, etc, etc.
